City holidays and memorable dates
In addition to national and international holidays, the following city holidays and memorable dates are celebrated in Saint Petersburg:- January 14-day of the Charter of St. Petersburg (adopted in 1998);
- January 18 — day of breaking the siege of Leningrad (in 1943);
- January 27 — Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade (in 1944);
- February 10-Alexander Pushkin memorial Day (the day of the poet's death in 1837);
- May 27-city Day — the day of the Foundation of St. Petersburg (in 1703);
- June 5 — the day of the breakthrough of sea mine blockade of Leningrad (in 1946; it has been celebrated since 2006);
- June 9— birthday of Peter the Great (in 1672);
- June 14-Saint John of Kronstadt memorial Day;
- June 20-The holiday of graduates of St. Petersburg schools "Scarlet sails "(celebrated from 1968 to 1979 and since 2005);
- July 1-restorer's Day (celebrated since 2006) [121];
- July 12-The day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul;
- August 15 — day of Ladoga, the first capital of Russia, the predecessor of St. Petersburg (founded in 753);
- September 8 - memorial day for the victims of the siege (the beginning of the siege of Leningrad in 1941);
- September 10 — St. Petersburg industry Day (celebrated since 2016);
- September 12 - day of transferring the relics of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky to Saint Petersburg (1724) - day of the peace of nishtadt (1721);
- October 30-shipbuilder's Day (celebrated since 2014).
